Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training is a hot topic at the moment, particularly in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement and the hostile environment faced by many people from marginalised groups. Most organisations and their leaders accept that a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce is something to aspire to. But how do you achieve this?
Inclusive leadership is talked about a lot –rightly so! – but so many of us still struggle without actually doing it . Having an example of someone modelling it can be a real help to show us what inclusive leadership looks like in action so we can all learn and apply it more in our own ways of working and being. Unlike in school where copying is called cheating, in leadership, copying others who are doing it well, is just good practice.
Inclusive leadership is not easy, and it can be hard to find examples of managers who are positive role models in this area. So we thought we’d share some!
